And all the air a solemn stillness holds

This is indeed no “light dusting” of snow — we’re certainly still in winter, time change or not! This morning’s commute was particularly unpleasant, though perhaps understandably so. My bus was about ten minutes late and the driver drove at a painfully slow pace, but we never skidded and he never got stuck so hurrah. I am at school now and alive, mostly none worse for the wear.

Unhappily, of course, we’re covering Sterne’s Tristram Shandy which I detest to no light degree. Of course, I am mildly amused at Shandy’s digressions throughout the novel, but I must admit that even Joseph Andrews was a walk in the park compared with this hefty tome. It will probably take me until the end of the course to finish the book but that’s alright. We’re covering Northanger Abbey in two weeks which I have read, re-read and read yet again. Catherine Morland must be, I think, my favourite Austen protagonist for her earnestness and naïveté.

How unfortunate that I must work tonight! Oh I will be trapped at school until 9:30 at which time I have been told it will be forecasted to be five below. I am only too worried that ice will begin to form and I’ll become trapped at some godforsaken outpost of the Translink system.

On the bright side, though, SUS elections are underway in earnest and I’ve already voted! I won’t be revealing my votes here for fear of retribution but more prudently because I don’t want the Enforcer to come down on me for apparent slating. Though I did vote YES for the SUS referendum. That’s probably alright!

Happily, I’ll be receiving my camera in the mail early next week and I look forward to playing with it this summer. I’m not terribly artistic though, but I hope that might change. We’ll see!
