Surely some revelation is at hand

Today was the last day of classes and, in many ways, it was a little bit sad. Call me a bleeding heart but I’ll really miss some of my classes.

It started in CHEM 205 – we gave Dr. Signorell a sound round of applause for her excellent teaching abilities. She even cracked a smile today when a girl sneezed rather loudly! I’m going to miss Dr. Signorell – she made CHEM 205 so easy. Why couldn’t she have taught CHEM 233? And CHEM 121 and 123?! Oh well, I consider the one competent chemistry professor I’ve had. Too bad I’m not going into chemistry, her research with aerosols seems interesting.

Then in ENGL 357, we had sort-of a wrap-up class. I don’t think Dr. MacKenzie knows this, but I think he’s a genius at Restoration and Eighteenth Century literature after having read some of his scholarly articles. I can’t wait for him to publish his book – it’s pretty cool! Best of all, he writes in a lively style and is really quite witty. Too bad though, I sincerely doubt he has a favourable opinion of me!

I skipped PSYC 100 which was fine. PSYC 100 has been the biggest mistake I ever made at UBC. Even more than POLI 101.

Lastly, in ENGL 348, we went through some final bits about The Tempest and had a few performances. This class, I’ll miss the most! It’s the only other 2-semester course I’ve taken (the other being PSYC 100) so I really got to know people in the class (even if they don’t know me). It’s too bad they’re all much older than me – I wanted to get to know them all a bit better! I’ll really miss Dr. Sirluck’s style of teaching – I thought it was really difficult in the beginning but I warmed up to it quite quickly. I advise everyone to take this course!

Funny how The Tempest ended the course – but I suppose it was planned all along. Clever, Dr. Sirluck, I tip my hat to you!

But release me from my bands
With the help of your good hands:
Gentle breath of yours my sails
Must fill, or else my project fails,
Which was to please. Now I want
Spirits to enforce, art to enchant,
And my ending is despair,
Unless I be relieved by prayer,
Which pierces so that it assaults
Mercy itself and frees all faults.
As you from crimes would pardon’d be,
Let your indulgence set me free.

After classes ended for the semester (yay!), I went to join in the carnival (ooh I really wanted to comment on the Bhaktinian carnival but I felt too much a dork to do so) and participated in some festivities. I was pretty good at the inflatable Ironman Challenge and Bungee Run, but that was mostly because my opponents weren’t really good. Ha!

Highlight of the day was certainly watching C and C try to joust one another. It was pretty weak, ladies!

All in all a good day. Hope everyone gets home safely from the AMS Block party!

In other news, I’ve recently developed an affinity for fountain pens and Montblanc is the apex of pens!

One day, when I’m wealthy (or if I find a wealthy benefactor), I’d really like to be the proud owner of the Montblanc Bohème Bleu pen.

Surely some revelation is at hand fs 2561

Black resin body inlaid with white gold and a sapphire, featuring a platinum nib with the Montblanc logo. ‘Course it costs about $500 so I’ll probably never own it. Oh well, a boy can dream!
