and suddenly his other voice: Where are your sons?

Watching Card Captor Sakura has put me in such a great mood – it wasn’t so long ago that I was young and innocent and carefree! It’s difficult to believe that I’m currently standing on the precipice between childhood and adulthood; it’s surreal that it wasn’t very long ago that I was tying my first pair of shoelaces or turning double digits (I thought it was such a big deal! I was genuinely tortured by the responsibilities of being 10 back then). I wonder what’s ahead?

I must be living vicariously through my friends on their vacations: L is happily shopping in Hong Kong, J is taking wonderful pictures there as well. N still manages to complain about Florida but he’s genuinely happy about being on vacation, I know. J is heading to Toronto for business but it’s still exciting. K hasn’t updated me about Costa Rica but I’m going to assume he’s having so much fun taking pictures. I’ve been tracking K on Twitter and MSN and she’s heading somewhere too – I didn’t think it prudent to ask where, but I hope she has a safe journey as well! I enjoy reading people’s blogs about their trips; it makes me want to have a travelogue when I go abroad as well. Too bad I won’t get a chance to go on an extended vacation until I graduate (due to co-op and obvious academic restrictions).

I’ve been so surprisingly productive today, I’m really quite proud! Finished my applications for the Dual Degree (B.Sc. and B.A.) and English Literature majors program. I hope I get into both; I don’t think I have the highest marks but my statements of academic intent are quite full of passion and conviction! Why I am not in arts, I won’t ever understand, but I can’t let these opportunities pass me by!

I recently signed up for CiteULike, an interesting way to browse scholarly articles. I used to keep paper copies of all the articles I found interesting but, because I find nearly everything interesting, I was rather quickly overwhelmed. My CiteULike only has a smattering of articles I’ve read over the times, but I’ll slowly populate the list. One day, if I ever become an academic, I’ll have a cool list of my favourite articles!

Third Girl has been mildly disappointing to say the least; I was expecting a riveting Poirot mystery but it’s been very slow to start. I’m not even sure I can say that it has started at all – Mrs. Oliver has been doing most of the legwork (though that’s pretty much par for the course; Poirot sits and thinks while the audacious Mrs. Oliver runs around gathering her lucky clues).

I guess these days of idleness are going to end soon. (I still need to learn how to drive!)

Is it odd that I know who one of your initials stand for?

Also, P is toiling in Vancouver, watching GG (ha! Totally rubbing off on ya), attending fascinating expos and conferences hopefully, and working more than ever.
